With these blocks, customers can redeem rewards at checkout, see how many points they’ll earn before buying, and receive points automatically based on Shopify events.
Loyalty blocks are added and managed in Shopify, but they follow the rules and settings defined in your Loyalty program. This means you control points, rewards, and eligibility in Loyalty, while Shopify handles where and when customers interact with them.
Depending on the block you use, customers can:
Redeem loyalty rewards during checkout
See how many points they’ll earn on a product page
Earn points automatically through Shopify Flow workflows using custom rules
Before you start
Some blocks require Shopify Flow or Online Store 2.0.
Members must be logged in to see or use certain Loyalty blocks.
Eligibility and point amounts depend on your loyalty program rules.
Learn more in Loyalty program enrollment and membership status.
Checkout rewards block
Let members redeem their loyalty points or rewards in Shopify checkout.
Add the Loyalty rewards block
In Shopify, go to Online Store > Themes.
Select Customize.
In the top navigation, select Checkout and accounts > Checkout.
In the left panel, expand Order summary.
Select Add block > Loyalty rewards.
Adjust block position if needed.
Select Save.
The block appears above the order summary for logged‑in members.
What members see
When a logged‑in member reaches checkout, the block displays:
Their current points balance
A drop‑down menu with all rewards they’re eligible to redeem
Members can redeem multiple rewards in the same order if your loyalty program allows reward combinations. Eligible rewards activate automatically when selected.
If a reward is greyed out, the member does not meet its requirements. For example, a product‑specific reward like Snowboard –15% is unavailable when the required product is not in the cart.
Eligibility rules
Eligibility depends on the rules set in your loyalty program:
Points appear when the member has the minimum points required.
Free product appears only if the product is in stock.
Product‑specific rewards appear only when the required product is in the cart.
Tier rules and reward limits still apply.
Remove the Loyalty rewards block
In the Theme Editor, go to Checkout and accounts > Checkout.
Expand Order summary.
Select the Loyalty rewards block.
Select Remove block.
Select Save.
Product page points block
Display how many loyalty points a customer will earn when purchasing a product.
The Product points block appears on the product page and shows the number of points that will be granted if the customer buys the product they’re viewing. This helps customers understand the loyalty value of a product before adding it to their cart.
Add the Product page points block
In Shopify, go to Online Store > Themes.
Select Customize.
Open a product page template.
Select Add block > Product page points.
Update the block title if needed.
Select Save.
Place the Product points block near the price or Add to cart button to make it more visible.
Custom rules with Shopify Flow
Automatically grant loyalty points using Shopify Flow workflows and custom rules created in the Loyalty app.
With this setup, you first create a custom points rule in Loyalty to define how many points should be awarded. Then use Shopify Flow to decide when that rule is triggered, for example, when an order is created, a customer is tagged, or another workflow condition is met.
Custom rules are not displayed directly in Shopify storefront blocks and are used only when triggered by Shopify Flow.
When to use Shopify Flow
Use when you want to:
Award points for non‑purchase actions, such as tagging a customer or completing a custom workflow
Trigger points based on complex or combined conditions
Connect Loyalty points to other Shopify apps or automations
Create a custom rule and connect it to Shopify Flow Earn points block
Follow these steps to create the rule and connect it with the Earn points block in Shopify.
1. Create a custom rule in Loyalty
In the Loyalty, create a custom rule that defines how many points will be awarded.
Learn how in Add a custom point rule.
Custom rules are a special type of points rule designed to work with Shopify Flow.Go to Program > Rules and select your custom rule.
Copy the Rule ID.
You need this to connect the rule to Shopify Flow.
2. Create a workflow in Shopify Flow
In your Shopify admin, open Shopify Flow and create a new workflow based on the event you want to use, for example, customer tagged or order created.
Learn how in Shopify Flow documentation. In the workflow editor:
Select Add action.
Search for Loyalty.
Select the Earn points block to add it to your workflow.
In the Loyalty action block settings:
Paste the copied Rule ID into the rule ID field.
When the workflow runs, Loyalty grants points according to the linked custom rule.
Custom rules do not run automatically. Points are awarded only when the rule is triggered by a Shopify Flow workflow.
Each action block can reference only one custom rule ID.
The rule ID uniquely identifies the custom rule you created in the Loyalty app. You copy this ID from the rule settings in Loyalty and paste it into the Earn points block in Shopify Flow. This tells Shopify Flow exactly which custom rule to trigger when the workflow runs.
