Sync Shopify customers

Sync your Shopify customers with Loyalty so they can earn points and rewards in your program.

Written by Bartlomiej Rekosiewicz

Syncing customers from Shopify imports your existing customer base into Loyalty, enrolling them as members who can participate in your rewards program.

You can run a sync when you first set up Loyalty, or any time you add new customers to Shopify.

When you sync:

  • Each Shopify customer becomes a member in Loyalty.

  • All customers are imported - there’s no eligibility check or selection process.

  • Each new member is automatically assigned a tier based on your current configuration, usually the base tier.

  • Syncing does not award points; members start earning according to your active points rules after they join.

Loyalty does not push members to Marketing contacts. If a member’s email matches a contact’s email in Marketing, you can view that contact in Marketing from the member profile.

Before you start

Syncing adds customers to Loyalty, but enrollment controls whether they can earn points or redeem rewards.

Both sync and resync:

  • Are not instant, time depends on customer numbers.

  • Cannot be reversed.

Sync adds:

  • All Shopify customers as members in Loyalty.

  • Assigns a tier based on your Loyalty configuration.

  • No points are awarded.

Resync updates:

  • Profile info (name, email, phone) from Shopify to Loyalty.

  • No change to points or tiers.

  • new Shopify customers as members in Loyalty.

Partial sync:

  • If you don’t sync all customers, only new customers who join via Shopify are added.

  • Every customer who edits their account or whose account is updated by an admin is also created in Loyalty, so new or updated customers are added.
